Ubuntu Precise Pangolin Theme For Gnome Shell

A new theme designed by “half-left” deviantart user, it’s based on the look of Ubuntu 12.04 LTS Precise Pangolin. The theme is compatible with Gnome Shell 3.4 and tested on Gnome Shell 3.4.1. check the download link and installation instruction down below.

There are a couple of methods to install a Gnome Shell theme.

First Method: Install a Gnome Shell Theme Using “User-Themes” Extension “recommended”

Unfortunately, this method won’t work for all users specially for who update to the last stable release of Gnome Shell 3.4.1 because the extension still not supported for this release of Gnome Shell. However, for those who still using the earlier releases of Gnome Shell from 3.2 to 3.4 it should work fine with you.

Install Gnome Tweak Tool


sudo apt-get install gnome-tweak-tool


su -s yum install gnome-tweak-tool

then, Install the User-Themes from Here.

Then you will be able to add additional Gnome Shell theme using “Gnome Tweak Tool”. Open “Gnome Tweak Tool” then add the new theme from “Shell Theme”.


Restart Gnome Shell by Clicking Alt+F2 and type “r” without quotes.

Second Method: Install a Gnome Shell Theme Manually “Be careful”

Before we add the new theme we will backup the current Gnome Shell theme, which is located in this path.


Copy the content of this directory on another location. “requires administration privileges”

Then remove all files located on theme directory and paste the files of the new Gnome Shell theme to it.


Restart Gnome Shell by Clicking Alt+F2 and type “r” without quotes.
