If you are familiar with KODI media center formaly know by “XBMC”, you are going to enjoy using OpenELEC which is a small Linux distribution comes preloaded with KODI media center.
OpenELEC is a lightweight Linux distribution built from scratch includes KODI software intended to be a dedicated media center distribution. It Supports Intel HD graphics and NVIDIA’s Geforce and several platforms including single board computers such as Raspberry Pi and Freescale IMX6 ARM boards.
OpenELEC distribution is avilable for generic builds 32bit and 64bit systems. Also, it’s available for WeTek media center box WeTek HUB, WeTek Play 2 and WeTek Core.
Recently OpenELEC team has announced the stable release of OpenELEC 8.0.4 which brings the latest stable release of KODI 17.3 “Krypton”. In addition to currently supported platforms, it brings some new platform supports WeTek Play 2, WeTek HUB and Rasberry Pi Zero W. This release comes with bug fixes for the WeTek DVB driver fof WeTek play 1st generation. Many core applications has been updated such as ffmpeg, GCC, Pulseaudio, GCC, glibc, systemd,xorg-server, LLVM and the Linux Kernel has been updated to version 4.9.
