Blender is a free and open-source graphics applications allows you to create an advanced 3D animated content. It works on all major operating systems such as Linux, MAC OS X and Microsoft Windows. Today, blender developer community announced the last release of Bledner 2.6x series which is version 2.62.

Blender 2.62 comes with several new features for rendering layers and passes, improved rendering for multi GPU, added BVH caching for faster rendering of camera fly-throughs, and new shading nodes for color correction and a checkerboard texture node. It includes new UV editing tools such as an advanced interactive stitch tool, to align and join together UV islands. A subdivision surface aware UV unwrapping to reduce stretching. There are many download options for different CPU architectures and for all major operating systems including Linux.

Download the tar.bz2 file then extract it and run Blender file, it should work fine with most of Linux distributions “Ubuntu, Fedora, OpenSUSE,..etc” if you have the required dependencies “glibc 2.7, includes Python 3.2 and FFmpeg”.
