Ubuntu Tweak is a great tool allows you to easily configure and customize Ubuntu in many ways. The earlier development release 0.6.x series which has been release during the development stages of Ubuntu 12.04 LTS brought several new features dedicated to Ubuntu Precise. Now, the final stable release Ubuntu Tweak 0.7.0 brings full support to Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin, also Ubuntu Tweak 0.7.0 brings many bug fixes and new features to Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot release as well.
Highlights of Ubuntu Tweak 0.7.0 “Precise Tweak”
Integration of some compiz features on Ubuntu Tweak. So, Workspaces will help you adjust the number of workspaces, ability to customize the screen edge action settings such as showing windows, workspaces, desktop and widgets.
Theme tweak now supports installing third party themes “currently only support icon theme”.
Includes many of the most important CCSM settings for adjusting Unity user interface. It allows you to customize the launcher icon sizes, opacity, back light, mode and showing mounted devices or not. It can be used for customizing the Unity Dash and the HUD option for deactivating it or not. Also you can deactivate the keyboard shortcuts overlay as well.
LightDM “Display Manger”
By default Ubuntu 12.04 LTS change the background of the LightDM simultaneously with the currently active background for the user selected on the LighDM. This tool will allow you to change the background for LightDM, logo, the GTK theme, icon theme. Also ability to hide the grid, and play a logging sound.
Quick List “Unity Launcher”
Ubuntu Tweak 0.7.0 supports Unity launcher quick list, so, now you will be able to add more elements to applications quick list, and it will ease and quick your usage for sure.
It’s a simple user interface for installing and removing applications through Ubuntu Tweak.
It allows you to easily check currently active PPAs, and ability to remove them by using “Purge PPA”, and it will auto downgrade the packages. Just select the PPA then press “Purge PPA”.
It brings a new “APPs” category which shows some applications on your system to remove the cache and unnecessary files. Also it improved displaying the results of the cleaning process, and a proper way to calculate the files will be deleted with more details listed beneath each category.
