Canonical is always moving forward toward an almost complete user experiance every where. Mark Shuttleworth just announced Ubuntu for Android devices, which will work natively on mobile devcies with Android operating system side by side using the same kernel. Ubuntu for Android will be introduced at MWC “Mobile World Congress” 2012 next week.

Ubuntu for Android will give you the same desktop experience you already have using the latest Ubuntu release on laptop or desktop, this will be even better because you will have both desktop and mobile functionality on your Android mobile device. Ubuntu for Android simply requires a monitor, keyboard, mouse and a dock to attach you device to it, then you will have full desktop experience.

This is not the Ubuntu Phone, Ubuntu works with Android side by side using the same kernel and it comes with 4G LTE, 3G capabilities to connect to the internet with high speed, and receive calls and text message while you docked the android device. You will be able to take the call or reject it and read and send text messages via the desktop.

Preloaded Applications

Ubuntu for Android comes preloaded with many applications for many purposes such as Chromium web browser, Google calender, Google Docs, Thunderbird email client, Gwibber social network microblogging client, VLC multimedia player, Pitivi video editor, Ubuntu Music player “probably Rhythmbox”, Ubuntu photo gallery “probably Shotwell “, and Android dialler. Also comes with Ubuntu TV to bring media center experience in your pocket.
