Hiding some of the preloaded system indicator icons could become handy to give you more room in the top panel in case you need it for other indicators you have recently installed, specially for displays with small resolution. Now you will be able to control system indicator icons visibility on the top panel of Unity user interface for Ubuntu 12.04 LTS Precise Pangolin.

This features is currently available for some system indicators such as sound, power, Bluetooth and time & date indicators. Hiding any of these indicator icons keeps the indicator settings fully functional all the time and you will be able to adjust the settings through “System Settings” window.
