Turpial is a lightweight microblogging client written using Python programming language. Turpial support ssocial network websites such as Twitter and Identi.ca.
Turpial has a simple user interface can be used with single column or the wide mode which includes 3 columns. Turpial support many functions such as uploading images to many websites, shorten URL, follow users, adjust the time period between updating the time line, filter users in case you want to stop seeing user tweets temporarily using the “Mute” function, check profile content and ability to modify it, search for tweets, check your favorite tweets as well. Install Turpial On Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot Using PPA
Run Terminal “Ctrl+Alt+t”, then type
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install turpial
Install Turpial On Fedora
yum install turpial

I’m using it since TweetDeck and Adobe AIR proved to be next to useless on openSUSE. Perfectly good replacement for TweetDeck if you’re not looking for all the bells and whistles. Haven’t noticed any particular bugs, either.
On ArchLinux , turpial is on AUR
yaourt -s turpial
Your list of Ubuntu versions does not include the current one, 11.10. Doesn’t it work on that version as well?
Yes, it’s working on Ubuntu 11.10 as well. I didn’t mention it on the note down below, because I already mentioned it on the installation title.
