Here’s a Gnome Shell extension allows you to switch between Gnome Shell Desktops by simply touching the mouse cursor to the desktop edges and scroll up and down.

“Desktop Scroller” extension comes with a graphical user interface to configure which side you want scroll between desktops.

[How To]: Install Desktop Scroller?

First you will need to Download extension file from github using this Link.

Extract the ZIP package, and rename the folder which contains extension files to “desktop-scroller@brorlandi” and move it to gnome shell extension folder using this command.

mv desktop-scroller@brorlandi ~/.local/share/gnome-shell/extensions

Or,¬†If you already have “Gnome Tweak Tool”, simply run it and select “Shell Extensions” from the sidebar, then select Install shell extension and select the downloaded file.

Install Gnome Tweak Tool

sudo apt-get install gnome-tweak-tool

To configure this extension, Open “Gnome Tweak Tool” and select “Shell Extension” from the sidebar, then select the settings icon beside the extension name. select which desktop edge you want to activate the scroll feature.

Also, If you have the proper configurations for Gnome Shell and Mozilla Firefox you can simply install it from this Link, by simply click “On/Off” button beside the title.

This extension has been tested on Ubuntu 12.10 Quantal Quetzal with Gnome 3.6.2
