Mozilla Firefox 45 Desktop Web Browser Brings Tab Sharing Using Firefox Hello

Mozilla has announced the stable release of the desktop and mobile web browser Mozilla Firefox 45. This release comes with HTML5 enhancements, bug fixes, security improvements and some interesting new features has been announced earlier with beta release of Mozilla Firefox. So, let’s take a look what’s new in Mozilla Firefox 45 for Desktop!

Tab Sharing Integration in Firefox Hello

Firefox Hello allows you to make a voice and video conversation with your friends as long as they are using similar the latest release of Mozilla Firefox. It’s not an exclusive features for Firefox web browser only, Hello tool uses WebRTC which is browsing in real time communication between users uses the same API. So, if you would like to invite a friend who uses Google Chrome or Opera web browsers, for a voice or a video conversation, it will work fine as long as his web browser support WebRTC.

Share-link-with-friends

With the new sharing tab integration you can simply share a tab by simply sending a link for your friends to join the conversation in Firefox Hello and see the content of this tab. This feature is quite handy, and it could be used for multiple purposes. Here’s a quick example, I copied the link from firefox Hello and paste it in Google chrome web browser to demonstrate the functionality of this feature.

What else is new In Mozilla Firefox 45

  • Improved recall recently visit websites, when start typing in the address bar “Awesome bar” as Mozilla calls it. Also, it could recall bookmarks and history from other devices running Mozilla Firefox “Synchronization must be activated”.
  • Introduce a new preference (network.dns.blockDotOnion) to allow blocking .onion at the DNS level.
  • Tab group feature has been removed.
  • Push API support, part of Progressive Web Applications.

[How To]: Install Mozilla Firefox 45 on Ubuntu 15.10 “Wily Werewolf”

The good new the official repository has been updated with latest stable release. No need to add any additional repository. Simply run system update from the update manager, or using the command line as shown below.

Mozilla Firefox 45 is currently available Ubuntu 12.04 LTS “Precise Pangolin”, Ubuntu 14.04 LTS “Trusty Tahr” and the upcoming long term support release Ubuntu 16.04 LTS “Xenial Xerus”.

Download Mozilla Firefox 45 | 32 bit or 64 bit

This release is an extended support releaseĀ “ESR” after earlier release of Mozilla Firefox 38. “ESR” is kinda like a long term support release will include bug fixes and performance improvements. But, it won’t include new features from the upcoming releases. So, If you are interested in keeping up with new features and obvious modifications, Update to the upcoming releases of Mozilla Firefox.
