A couple weeks ago Pidgin 2.8.0 released with many changes check it Here, today Pidgin 2.9.0 has been released with few changes and bug fixes. so let’s check installation for pidgin 2.9.0 in Ubuntu 11.04 Natty Narwhal.
Pidgin 2.9.0 Changelog
- Fix a potential remote denial-of-service bug related to displaying buddy icons.
- Significantly improved performance of larger IRC channels (regression introduced in 2.8.0).
- Fix Conversation->Add on AIM and MSN.
- Entries in the chat user list are sorted properly again. This was inadvertenly broken in 2.8.0.
- Fix logging in to ICQ.
- media: Actually use the specified TCP port from the TURN configuration to create a TCP relay candidate
- AIM and ICQ: Fix crashes on some non-mainstream OSes when attempting to printf(“%s”, NULL). (Clemens Huebner) (#14297)

Install Pidgin 2.9.0 In Ubuntu 11.04 Natty Narwhal Using PPA
If you already have older version of pidgin you can use same instructions for updating your current version
These instructions works in older release of Ubuntu ” 10.10 Maverick, 10.04 Lucid ” and based distributions as well
sudo apt-add-repository ppa:ferramroberto/pidgin/ubuntu
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install pidgin
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install pidgin
