Install Darktable 1.1.1 Photo Manager on Ubuntu 12.10 Quantal Quetzal Using PPA

Darktable is a free and open-source photo management software. It runs on GNU/Linux, MAC OS X and Solaris. Darktable allows you to develop and enhance variety of high quality image formats and apply many effects and corrections modules to your images.

Darktable 1.1.1 brings many improvements and bug fixes, such as initial support for SONY NEX 5R, preliminary/experimental Canon EOS 6D and Sony RX1 support, RAW images will now be visible in the import dialog, fixed many related issues to OpenCL, and several updates to the user manual.

[How To]: Install Darktable 1.1.1 on Ubuntu 12.10 Quantal Quetzal and Ubuntu 12.04 LTS Precise Pangolin using PPA

Run Terminal “Ctrl+Alt+t”, then type,

sudo apt-add-repository ppa:pmjdebruijn/darktable-release

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install darktable

Darktable 1.1.2 can be installed on Ubuntu 13.04 Raring Ringtail using the same repository, just follow the instructions mentioned up there

Also, you can install additional modules and effects such as Exiv2 and Lensfun along with the stable release of Darktable, using this PPA.
