[How To]: Install XBMC 11.0 “Eden” on Fedora 16 Verne
Recently XBMC has been updated to the latest stable version 11.0 “Eden” on the rpm fusion update repository for Fedora 16 “Verne”. So, let’s get to the installation instructions.
First: Install the repository from RPM fusion website
On the website you can install it using the graphical user interface installer for RPM fusion repository, or simply run your terminal, and type
This command will install the RPM fusion free repository only. Which includes XBMC 11.0 Eden package.
su -c 'yum localinstall --nogpgcheck http://download1.rpmfusion.org/free/fedora/rpmfusion-free-release-stable.noarch.rpm'
Second: Activate the RPM Fusion repository
su -c 'yum --enablerepo=rpmfusion-free-updates'
or you can activate the repository by checking it from the “software sources” tab on the “software settings”.
Third: “finally” install XBMC 11.0 Eden
su -c ‘yum install xbmc’
