[How To]: Install Kdenlive 0.8.2.1 Video Editor and Kdenlive 0.8.3 Development Release

Kdenlive is a free and open source video editor, considered as one of the best video editor available so far for GNU/Linux, Mac OS X and FreeBSD. Kdenlive support many camcorders, and cameras has a HDV capabilities. Kdenlive supports many multimedia formats supported by FFmpeg. Also it comes with several customizable video effects, and transitions by Frei0r.

The last recommended stable release is Kdenlive 0.8.2.1. this release brings more stability, less start-up crashes and several bug fixes. Also the development release Kdenlive 0.8.3 brings many new features such as clip jobs, audio recording through MLT’s avformat producer now supports audio only capture, and online services integration which allows you to easily browse and download resources from the web.

Install Kdenlive 0.8.2.1 For Ubuntu Users

PPA works on Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot, Ubuntu 11.04 Natty Narwhal, Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick Meerkat, Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx, and Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala

Run Terminal “Ctrl+Alt+t”, then type

sudo apt-add-repository ppa:sunab/kdenlive-release
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install kdenlive

Install the the development release Kdenlive 0.8.3 On Ubuntu using kdenlive-svn PPA

sudo apt-add-repository ppa:sunab/kdenlive-svn
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install kdenlive

Fedora Users can install kdenlive through RPM fusion.
