Network World had an interview with Mark Shuttleworth “Canonical founder” over the phone discussed many things about the upcoming releases of Ubuntu the default user interface, and considered package replacements for Ubuntu 11.10 and Ubuntu 12.04.
Firefox web browser is one of the most popular web browser available and most widely used web browser in Linux/Unix Platforms. Firefox taking the second place with 29.98% after Microsoft Internet Explorer with 45.11% and Google Chrome comes in the third place with 17.37% according to Statecounter Web browser statics all around the world.
According to Mark Shuttleworth they decided that Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot will come with Firefox as the default web browser, and Google Chrome web browser probably won’t replace Firefox in Ubuntu 12.04 LTS because it long term support release which probably won’t have major changes for long support release. You always have a choice to install your favorite browser along with another browsers.

I didn’t think they would replace such a wildly popular browser like Firefox with Google Chrome in Ubuntu. The truth is Firefox fits the user interface a lot better than Chrome. I use Chrome in Windows but when it comes to Linux and especially Ubuntu I prefer Firefox.
