File associations is a great feature on KDE desktop to easily associate a specific file type or extension to application with different priority for those installed applications.
This tool become really handy specially when you have some many installed applications for example multimedia applications and you want to set priority these extensions ” MP3, ogg, MOV, … ” for this application ” Amarok or VLC ” whatever the application you want.
This features working with many applications “Text editor, Audio, video, …..” and file extensions, also you are able to add more file extensions and associate them with different types of applications.
This feature like Favorite application on Gnome Desktop to add recommendation for this file to open with any kind of your installed applications.
Run File Associations
System Settings> Advanced Tab> File associations
or Run it by using ALT key + Function 2 Key
