Cinnamon 1.3.1 Has Been Released | What’s New

After a few days since the major update release Cinnamon 1.3 desktop environment, here comes the new maintenance release Cinnamon 1.3.1 with several bug fixes and improvements to the theme, cinnamon settings manager, and enhancements to the bottom panel. Check some screenshots for the latest changes and installation instructions for the latest Cinnamon release version 1.3.1 for Ubuntu and Fedora users.

So let’s check what’s new in Cinnamon 1.3.1 starting with the most notable changes to the user interface and Cinnamon settings manager.

Cinnamon Bottom Panel

Improved the drag and drop ability for currently active Applets on your bottom panel. So, when you try to drag any applet it will highlight the whole panel with with Threee different colors to easily choose the desired location you want to move the Applet to it.

Cinnamon Settings Manager

It comes with few changes to the user interface, added a text scalling factor to Font settings, and added a restore button on the Applet manager.

Cinnamon 1.3.1 other changes

  • Fixed battery/power applet
  • Many unnecessary warnings were removed from the logs
  • Typos were corrected in the systray applet
  • A bug was fixed which made some icons to appear too big in the system tray

Install Cinnamon 1.3.1 On Ubuntu Using Official PPA

Since the release of Cinnamon 1.3 the PPA maintainer didn’t update the repository and many users were asking about the installation/update instructions on Ubuntu using PPA, after a few days of Cinnamon 1.3.1 the official PPA has just been updated to the latest release of Cinnamon version 1.3.1 and it’s available to install on Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot and Ubuntu 12.04 LTS Precise Pangolin using PPA.

sudo apt-add-repository ppa:gwendal-lebihan-dev/cinnamon-stable

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install cinnamon

Install Cinnamon 1.3.1 On Fedora 16 Verne
